How Fountain Valley Insulation Was Born in Fountain Valley

We started Fountain Valley Insulation in 2014, but the idea had been brewing for a while before that. The moment that tipped us over the edge wasn’t dramatic. It was a Tuesday afternoon in a tract home near Mile Square Park. The homeowner had paid another company a significant sum for attic insulation that was supposed to fix her summer cooling bills. She showed us the receipt, then she showed us the attic. The batts were laid in the wrong direction, there were gaps around every recessed light, and a section near the gable vent had no insulation at all. The work wasn’t just sloppy. It wasn’t doing anything.

What bothered us most wasn’t the bad work. It was how normal that bad work had become. She had been sold a service by someone who clearly never intended to stand behind it. We finished that job properly, and she called us back that fall to thank us because her air conditioner finally cycled off during the day. That feeling stayed with us. We wanted to build a company in Fountain Valley where a job done wrong was simply not an option, where the person on the phone knew what a soffit vent was, and where the crew in the attic treated a stranger’s home like their own.

Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the Insulation Trade

We came into this trade through the side door. In the mid-2000s, we were doing general remodel work around Orange County, tearing out drywall, reframing walls, the kind of work where you see what’s really behind everything. And what we kept seeing in home after home was insulation that had failed. Not just old insulation. Insulation that had been installed wrong from day one, compressed into wall cavities, riddled with gaps, chewed through by rodents, or simply the wrong type for the Southern California climate. The drywall hid it, so nobody knew. But you could feel it standing in the hallway. A warm house in August with the AC running full blast. A cold bedroom in January. People were paying for comfort and getting a house that leaked air like a screen door.

The first time we properly air-sealed and reinsulated a small home in Huntington Beach, the difference was so immediate that the homeowner stood in her living room and just laughed. She said it felt like someone had finally fixed the house, not just patched it. That was the moment the trade chose us. The work is physical. Crawling through an attic in a Fountain Valley summer means it’s hot enough to cook on. Blown cellulose gets in your hair and your boots and somehow your lunch. But the satisfaction is unlike anything else we’ve done. You finish a job and the house is different. It sounds different, it feels different, it works differently. The family inside will sleep better that night, and they’ll notice it on the next utility bill too. That’s what gets us out of bed. That moment when the blower door numbers drop and you know you’ve actually changed something.

Meet Our Team – The Person Behind Every Job

We’re the founders and owners, and we’re still the ones who walk every attic before a bid, who check every job after the crew finishes, and who answer when a homeowner calls with a question three months later. We grew up in Southern California and we’ve spent our entire working lives in construction and building performance. We’re trained in the full range of insulation materials from fiberglass batts to spray foam, and we’ve spent years learning the building science side of things: how air moves through a house, how moisture behaves in a wall cavity, why a vented attic works differently in Fountain Valley than it does in Covina or Redondo Beach.

Outside of work, we’re the kind of people who can’t walk through a hardware store without touching every display. We restore old furniture. We’re particular about doing things right the first time because we’ve seen what cutting corners costs. When we’re on your job, we treat your home the way we’d treat our own. That’s not a slogan. It’s the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.

Our Promise to Fountain Valley Homeowners

We promise to tell you the truth about what your house needs, even when that truth is “you don’t need us yet.” More than once we’ve walked an attic and told the homeowner their insulation still has useful life left, or that their real problem is duct sealing, not new insulation. We’d rather earn your trust slowly than sell you a job you don’t need.

We promise upfront pricing. The quote we give you after we walk your home and measure your attic is the price. No surprise add-ons, no “we discovered this in the wall” phone calls. If we find something unexpected, we’ll show you before we do the work and talk through the options.

And we stand behind every job. If something isn’t right, if a section settles more than it should, if you’re not comfortable in your own home after we leave, call us. We’ll come back and make it right. That’s how we’ve run this business since 2014, and that’s how we’ll run it tomorrow.

Our Credentials

  • State-Licensed: We hold the licensing required to perform insulation work in California.
  • Insured & Bonded: We carry the insurance and bonding that protects your home and your investment while we’re working in it.
  • Twelve Years Local: We’ve been insulating homes in Fountain Valley and the surrounding cities since 2014.
  • Strong Local Reputation: Our business runs on referrals from homeowners who’ve worked with us and trust our crews.

Licensing matters because unlicensed work can void your homeowner’s insurance if something goes wrong. Insurance matters because accidents, while rare, happen, and you shouldn’t be the one holding the bag. And twelve years of local work matters because it means we’ve seen how Fountain Valley’s specific climate, home styles, and building codes interact, and we know what works here and what doesn’t.

Rooted in Fountain Valley

Fountain Valley is a city of quiet streets, good schools, and homes built mostly in the 1960s and 1970s, which means many attics here are under-insulated by today’s standards. We know these houses because we’ve been inside hundreds of them. We grab coffee on Brookhurst, we see our customers at the farmers market, and when we drive past a home we insulated years ago, we still remember what the attic looked like before we started. That’s what it means to be rooted here.
